We continue our journey south and this time we leave British Virgin Islands - Virgin Gorda and take off to St. Martin - about 80 nm. Sailing this angle in Caribbean is pretty much impossible, but at least we lucky to pick day with no wind and this makes a huge difference. We arrive to St. Martin and explore its beautiful beaches and castle. St. Baths is next on our itenery - more beautiful beaches and so much more.

We leave France, the French Riviera. A little island next to Hyeres called Porquerolles. We liked it here. to go to Spain - about 150 NM sail…
The winds are not as expected, but we make it do - after all, it’s only an overnight sail.
Since we are about to meet our friends on Aquarius in Barcelona, we are again on a schedule - it’s another 80+ miles to Barcelona and we got to go…

We will not be sailing much in Spain as it’s getting chilly, especially at night but most importantly - it’s not the easiest place to find suitable anchorage - the coast is pretty straight without bays and islands - which is quite rolly - but the coast is absolutely spectacular!
And booking marinas for a couple of nights at a time becomes quite costly even in the low season - we opted for a monthly contract.
therefore - we soak every minute of this beautiful sail…

After saying farewell to our friends we sailed to explore the French Riviera Famous and glamorous place where if you have enough cash you can buy yourself a 17th-century castle! :) We started with Villefranche-sur-Mer  - a small charming town between Nice and Monaco.
Then we moved closer to Cannes, where we finally met another AMEL Super Maramu 2000 owner from Lithuania - long-awaited get-together and great times… Where together we sail to Antibes, and we girls go for a shopping trip to Niece, and then of course - Cannes! Where we attend the Cannes Yachting Festival… So many new beautiful boats - did we get our heads turned and get a new boat???
I guess you will have to watch to find out ;)

This is a major milestone for us - we are about to transit Suez Canal!
We start our journey at the top of Red Sea / Bottom of Gulf of Suez. Winds are not cooperating in this part of the seas, but as far as we been watching - it’s one of the better windows for our passage. 142NM to the entrance of the Suez Canal. On the way - usual - getting around fishing boats and their nets, and arriving to the huge anchorage at night. Next morning we move to Suez yacht Club, where Aquarius will be docked for the night. This time we are not checked into Egypt, therefore we can not go ashore and whilst docking we damaged our bow thruster. Oh well, luckily we don’t need it to transit the canal.
Next morning our pilot arrives and we take off to the next stop Ismailia. Join us!

We heard some awful noise from our Lewmar 58ST electric winch on our way up the Red Sea. So, in this video we will research the problem and try to fix it. At the end of the video I show where the circuit boxes for the Starboard winch on an Amel Super Maramu 2000, and show the electric motor placement. All looks great on Aquarius!
