While in Sardinia I found out that my relatives and my girlfriends will be visiting Monaco / South of France and we made a decision to move fast to meet.
But we knew one - we could not skip Bonifacio - the very southern tip of Corsica, as according to our countless friends and sailors - it’s a must.
Luckily it’s the beginning of September and the peak time is winding down, so we get a marina slip - but I would not advise going there in a busy season without reservations.
Whilst here I noticed the Lithuanian flag - a national flagship sailboat that represents Lithuania in races - Ambersail 2.
After a very enjoyable visit in Bonifacio, Corsica we set sail again - next stop - 170 NM away - MONACO!
And we get to bring our Aquarius to the main marina in Monaco - we did not expect we would have such an opportunity - but it all worked out - I got to meet my family and my friends - so nice…

The last time we arrived in Croatia, Checked in Dubrovnik and came straight to Korcula to meet our friends from the US, - it was amazing - the time with them and the place itself!
Man, this place really made a mark between our all-time favorites!
Funny enough as we drafted our plan where to sail in the Med we were not even sure if we will come to Croatia. We heard it’s beautiful but also very expensive - even more since just recently - in January 2023 it joined Eurozone. But we got spellbound right away from our first short stop in Dubrovnik, but Korcula definitely took it to the next level - if that was even possible.
Well - all this is nothing - you must see it yourself!

Tips on Tuesday - Today we perform basic maintenance on the bow thruster, but we also install new Silicon Seals. This will help stop water intrusion around the bow thruster. We also install a water alarm near the bow thruster just in case of a leak. Better to know about water in the bow sooner rather than later!
I know the video is long and maybe boring for some, but it's to help people understand how to maintain the bow thruster. Hopefully you will enjoy...

Wala…. The long overdue Panama Canal Transit video! A pair of Amel Super Maramu’s, Aquarius and Aloha, transit the canal together. Three Amel Super Maramu captains, Ken, Rick, and JP2 aboard Aquarius during the transit! How about that??? (I swear we did not plan on it).
One small step for mankind, one HUGE step for Aquarius as she finally transits from the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific Ocean! Aquarius finishes the transit on December 31st, 2017 just in time for the fireworks over Panama City!
Enjoy, and please forgive us for this extremely prolonged quiet time – uploading a video in French Polynesia seems like mission impossible as internet connection is much less than OK.

As we sail south to get out of the hurricane zone ASAP we move from Guadeloupe, Caribbean towards Martinique. It all went fairly well despite the unusual wind direction until we noticed that one of our main mast shrouds seemed quite loose. We just got our new rigging as we remasted Aquarius, but now we have sailed for nearly 1000 nautical miles so maybe it's time to tune the rig or something is going wrong? Not again!!!

We took off Djibouti ready to sail across Red Sea straight into Egypt... It was HOT and lots of motoring between great deal of huge boats...
And then the wind picked up... straight in front of us... We had 2 choices: ~5 days of slow, and uncomfortable motoring against the winds and the waves or... to make a stop.

We just arrived to Turkey couple of days ago and we are eager to move up north to Marmaris and meet up with "Zatara" a family we sailed with for almost a year in the Indian ocean and Red Sea. It was time to celebrate -Zatara finished their circumnavigation in Turkey! So we sailed to Marmaris, which, now is our favorite place in Turkey.

I think there is no better time to review the year than now - and it was awesome - we started it just as we transited the Suez Canal and sailed straight to Crete Island, Greece, where we left Aquarius to winter out.
Meanwhile, we took off to the US - Miami Boat Show.
Finally, we were off to explore the Med - first Turkey - where we reunited with friends, visited some cool places, and almost lost our dinghy! Oh and let’s not forget - had our first and only ever red carpet boat shopping experience, due to high marina prices in Turkey we popped back into Grece, Crete island, and did some engine tune-up - and that was SUCH A DIFFERENCE! - she purrs :)
After Greece followed long debated Croatia, that we ended up falling in love, despite that one scary time when Aquarius got almost dragged to the rocks by the sudden Bura storm….
Next followed Italy - with fascinating fireworks everywhere, a bit inhospitable but we made new friends and we off to the French island Corsica, beautiful Bonifacio.
At this point, we felt in full swing like a nonstop carousel of fine places, friends, foods, and good times.
Cannes Boat Festival we liked much more than Miami and met so many AMEL owners, that I’m afraid at this point I lost count…
Then was Spain... Slowly it was getting cooler but we have no plans on wintering out 2nd year in the Med - so we move on... To Gibraltar, Morocco, and Canary Islands.. but - you have to see it yourself... Join us!

We met up with Niobe, an Amel 50, in Medana Bay Marina, Lombok Indonesia. Niobe is a beautiful yacht, and I thought y'all would like to see what she looks like inside and out.
Benz has sailed Niobe with his family halfway around the world with the ARC. There is a lot of good information in the video, so sit back and enjoy.
The Amel 50 is a beautiful and capable yacht, with ALL the amenities. This boat feels like a 60 footer inside, and is very comfortable! A true passage maker. You have to see this!
To start off the video we talk about the Amel 50 with Captain Benz. Many tours just talk about the pieces and parts of the boat, but we try to bring you more of the personality of the boats. Currently circumnavigating with the ARC, we discuss a bit about the ARC, and sailing with kids as well.

As we island-hop through the Caribbean, heading north, we stop in Saint Barts, where the Saint Barts Bucket Regatta is in full swing. Among all the stunning and extravagant yachts, one is noticeably absent—Bayesian, the yacht that sank near Palermo, Sicily, last summer, claiming seven lives, including that of Mike Lynch, often called "Britain’s Bill Gates." The tragedy remains shrouded in controversy and mystery, still unresolved. But today, we are here to admire her three magnificent sister ships. Join us as we witness their beauty.

Last week was quite intense for us - meeting friends, Cannes Yachting Festival, we met few followers there and quite stormy weather - so now we are very happy to slow down and relax a little bit... We go for a leisurely stroll on Ile Saint-Margueritte - one of 2 small islands just south of Cannes, where we visit Fort Royalle and the famous prison - where The Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned. His true identity as well as why he was imprisoned for 34 years till his death remains a mystery to this day...
Then we sail to St. Tropez and explore around. Maybe our expectations were too high, but Port Grimaud right next to St. Tropez was very charming and reminded Venice.
Then we do a "AMEL mandatory" stop - Hyeres, where's AMEL office is situated and our last destination in France - only a few miles away from Hyeres - the beautiful nature reserve Porquerolles, quiet and pristine, with very little development but lots of charm, where we spend a couple of days waiting for the winds to sail to Sapin.

After a little over six months, we're finally back to Aquarius—hurricane season is over, and we're ready! Ken was here just last month for a couple of weeks, tackling maintenance and upgrades, and now we're both back, hoping to splash and enjoy the season in just a few days.

We keep moving south island hopping the Caribbean sea chain stopping in Grenada and visiting Pigeon Island also called “Réserve Cousteau” - the best diving sport in the Caribbean Sea!
Continuing to the little island group called Les Saints. The cruising season in the Caribbean is over which marks hurricane season already started taking in mind that we constantly and carefully monitor the winds we keep cruising south. While we were in Marmaris Turkey we came across this beautiful Amel 54 and we actually knew the owner. So, of coarse, I had to make a tour of this Amel 54 for all to see. She is beautiful with maybe one or two scratches, but I could not find one of them. Hope you enjoy the tour!
