What happened to this ZF marine reverse gear when it ran out of oil?

This ZF 15MA was run on low/no oil for a long period of time resulting in some terrible noise and poor performance. While I'm no expert on marine gears, I am curious about them and want to tear this one down to do a failure analysis as well as learn how they work and go together. Let's tear this one down together!
