It's hard to find a break in the strong winter trade winds, so I pick the best window I can see to get from Boqueron, Puerto Rico, to the Dominican Republic. Of course it's never just simple downhill sledding. We get caught in the doldrums on the lee side of Puerto Rico, then squalls and increasing wind and swell as we approach Luperon. Then we have quite the tricky entrance to negotiate into Luperon ...
