Race boat refit - our hardest job yet - PART 3 | Ep. 23

Before we bought NV (our ex Vendée Globe race boat), we discussed the potential biggest expenses, one of which was the rudder bearing. On our boat the rudder bearing is custom made from high quality material to resist to extreme loads and it's started to leak. So we removed the rudder to check it and found that parts of the bottom bearing are corroded and that the rubber seal between the bearing and the boat is damaged. Since the bearing is custom made, the Australian company that made the bearing said they need to see the physical bearing in order to make replacement parts. So we booked a flight to Australia to bring the bearing to the company, but the bearing sleeve has been glued to the rudder shaft and we can't get it off... In the last video (https://youtu.be/Pqo1pUmDT-o), we showed the extractor that Timo made using the hydraulic jack to try to get this sleeve off the rudder shaft. But it wasn't working and parts of the extractor were breaking instead. So with only 24 hours before our flight leaves, Timo turned his attention to trying to remove the part of the bearing that's still attached to the boat.
