ORCAS ATTACK SAILBOAT off Portugal Coast

We were cautiously sailing along the stunning but unpredictable Portuguese coastline - from Oeiras Marina, past Cabo Espichel, toward Sesimbra - little did we know how unpredictable it was. A 35ft sailboat was suddenly spun in circles by a pod of Orcas, including juveniles, in what appeared to be an unprovoked and intense interaction. The crew could be seen scrambling onboard as the boat is jolted and twisted in the water. What makes this even more chilling? This exact incident happened just an hour after we passed through that same area. We had dropped anchor in Sesimbra when we received the footage of the attack via an Instagram Reel - and couldn't believe how close we came to being involved ourselves.
