Bow on with windward heel, there are few sights as good as seeing Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli’s beautiful LEQ12 barrelling upwind at breakneck speeds, but it was a tricky weather day today for the Italians in Cagliari with lighter winds either side of a sea breeze that called for different technique – one that they showed more than adept at handling. Hamish Wilcox the team sailing coach described the conditions saying: “Yeah it was tricky you know we had more than we expected for a while which was nice, the day didn't look too promising at all actually, there’s rain around so quite cold as you notice so the sea-breeze was really struggling to develop and in the end in fact I think we had something of a little push out of the clouds and some sort of shower and rain and then the breeze kind of eddied all the way into the Bay, so it was a lot of different things happening out there.” Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away.
