IOM Ranking Event Scarborough Day 2 - International One Metre

International One Metre Model Yacht Racing at Scarborough Model Yacht Club on 16th March 2025. Day 2 report. A short video report from North Yorkshire Waterpark of the 2025 IOM Ranking weekend. This event consists two seperate events over two days for the UK rankings. This event also qualifies for the IOM World Championships due to be held in the UK in 2026 and therefore attracted all top UK helms. North Yorkshire Waterpark is the home of Scarborough Model Yacht club and also hosts many other types of sailing and yachting activities, Model yacht racing (often refered to as Radio Sailing) is a competitive form of yacht racing run along similar lines to dinghy racing and keelboat racing. Different classes of model yacht are raced, these range from inexpensive mass produced yachts to expensive craftsman made boats. Model yacht racing is a sport in which small sailboats generally under one metre in length are raced against each other in a controlled environment such as a pond, lake, or indoor swimming pool. The only method of propulsion is the wind on the sails. Electronic radio controled winches are used to trim the sails and steer the yachts.
