INEOS Britannia T6 Day 35 Summary

Looking flat and fast, INEOS Britannia took full advantage of a solid breeze that peaked at 20 knots out on the Bay of Palma for a thoroughly entertaining training session to round off a productive week in fine style. Having recovered and fully de-briefed from their Wednesday sky-rocket, Ben Ainslie and Giles Scott put the learnings into practice, immediately performing fast turn-ups and dynamic bear-aways making the incident feel like a very distant memory. Speaking afterwards, Giles Scott always the blueprint for interviews gave a terrific insight firstly into the sky-rocket saying: “Yeah we lost control of the heel and the boat began to go up but you know it happens pretty quickly and the boats are, as we keep saying, they are on a knife edge and we like to live on that knife edge, so every now and then you get it wrong but the important thing is that we managed to learn from it and today looked a lot better I think.” Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away.
