Such is the talent coursing through the whole INEOS Britannia organisation that the complex challenge of the new W-Foil that the team are sporting on the short starboard arm, is being taken head-on and, whisper it quietly, is beginning to look like the early foothills of a game-changer. Always the model of professionalism and brilliant in interview, Giles Scott gave such a good, calm insight into how the INEOS Britannia programme is progressing, covering a wide waterfront in interview with yachting journalist and recon supremo Justin Chisholm. Talking about the foil testing today, Giles contextualised the day saying: “We were just looking at various states of the new foil, how it acts and basically providing a lot of data for the guys back in Brackley to dig through with that new foil…we like it, it's certainly different. It's certainly no secret that it's very different to the one on the other side and, you know, really at this stage we're exploring the design space and hopefully it'll all just help us make the right call for the race wing.” Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away.
