INEOS Britannia AC40-2 Day 2 Summary

Bouncing back magnificently from their travails with the LEQ12 last week, INEOS Britannia put everything behind them and launched their stunning AC40 (AC40-2), that has been tucked away in the base in Palma itching to splash since delivery from the boat’s builder McConaghy’s back in October. The INEOS ‘bounce’ was expected and Giles Scott, always the calmest cucumber in town gave a superb interview after sailing saying: “It seems like a long, long time ago last week, but the last day’s outing on T6 was obviously a big one for us and not really the way we wanted to run into its refit that it's now into…it's very important for us to be able to bounce right back from that and get back on the water and get stuck back into it and fortunately we'd got the AC40 waiting in the wings.” Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away.
