Gentlemen Never Sail To Weather... but Ben does | Sailboat Story 116

There's a good reason that gentlemen never sail to weather. It's splashy, chaotic, and ungentlemanly in every way. However, since there are no gentlemen aboard our sailboat, we are exempt from this rule - therefore we often beat our brains out as we smash, splash, and crash our way to weather. We sail away from anchor at Oyster Cay, and start tacking our way towards Shroud Cay against 15-20 knots of South Easterly wind. Even though we're sailing in only 20 feet of water, the waves can easily build to a height of 4-6 feet when off shore by a few miles. 4-6 foot waves don't sound like much, but when bashing directly into them, it can make for a VERY splashy and bouncy ride. Thankfully, we arrive at Shroud Cay after 7 hours of hard sailing and a series of 6 long tacks, we drop the hook in only 5 feet of water. Thanks for watching!!
