It incorporates virtually all of the driver-centric features of the 6-cylinder G2s that have been on the market for several years. Most important, it is more fuel-efficient than any competitive 4-stroke on the market. It is also the quietest engine we have tested at best cruise in its class. This is a noteworthy finding because historically 2-stroke engines were generally thought to be louder than 4-stroke engines. Evinrude techs tell us that the new G2 platform has produced more torque than its competition, something that bass boaters and boarders care about.
