Day 1 - La Course Des Caps - Onboard Malizia - Seaexplorer

Day one onboard Malizia - Seaexplorer during La Course des Caps and our OBR Flore is giving us a glimpse of what's happening onboard. We’re into our first evening at sea and it’s been a calm, slow start, really peaceful after the buzz of the dock and the start line. The Malizia crew did a great job getting the boat moving quickly, and now we’re enjoying sunny, warm, flat conditions. The only sound is the waves against the hull… the kind of moments we live for out here. Right now we’re halfway across the Calais TSS. It’s tricky sailing, light, patchy winds and lots of traffic zones to manage. We’ve got four or five boats around us, battling with Holcim, Queginer, and Macif close by. Every minute counts in these conditions. On board, it’s all about staying sharp and looking after each other. There’s even been a bit of a night-time skincare routine and some laughs in the cockpit. We did hit a small snag when our kite (A2) tore after getting caught around a foil. No panic, the team sorted out a proper repair job, drying and patching it up carefully so it’s ready to fly again later in the race. It wouldn’t be an offshore race without a bit of sail surgery! As the evening goes on, we’re watching Macif and the others in these lighter conditions, they’re fast, and it’s a real fight to stay in the pack. But spirits are high, the boat’s flying nicely, and there’s a long way to go. This is just the start.
