Our DIY Boat refit progress during a wet and very windy half term holiday. Despite winds over 50mph and lots of rain we made more progress on our Bow Roller (including testing it with both chain and the 30kg Spade anchor). Jane started making our Dyneema Chainplates. Plus lots of destruction in our saloon with new plans for the layout. We are refitting a 44 year old Rival 38 for a Sustainable Sailing retirement in a few years. Two years ago, when we bought Vida she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings. We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all electric (motor, cooking etc). Now that the inside is dry (thanks to new windows, new hatches and leak chasing) we are fitting her out for live-aboard world cruising.
