The Best FOUR Months to Sail the Cyclades Three Reasons Why Sikinos, Folegandros, Polyaigos @Sailing Adventures with Grandad This is the last vlog of my Solo sail of the Cyclades. Its been a great challenge sailing to 12 Islands. A voyage of learning about my self, more each day about Vayu my sailboat, and in this chapter I share what I learned about, what months to Sail the Cyclades and why. I share the my experience and show you the reasons why as we sail from Ios to Sikinos and then on to Folegandros & Polyaigos. Im feeling quite cheerful as a result of deciding that once I get to Milos I will have company. And that is the story of what Im calling my summer social season. The next few episodes of Sailing Adventures with Grandad. I sailed the Cyclades in May and June and then went back in September and October. During both these periods we dont have the heat of July & August and its actually cool at night and in the mornings. So Bearable Heat is one of my reasons. Then the winds during these months are mostly manageable. You get some meltemis but they are not as frequent or as severe as July & August. And the wind is mostly Perfect. And the final reason is that without the summer crowds, at least the 12 Islands I visited were not crowded, the anchorages were peaceful, the restaurants were not full, it was a delight. The challenge of sailing solo in the beautiful Aegean sea island to island is nothing short of magnificent. But choosing the cooler and less windy and crowded months can really add to your enjoyment. This adventure of Sailing Adventures with Grandad, started after our long Covid battle, desperate to sease life again I departed Palma de Mallorca going East around Sicily, across the Ionian, transiting the Corinth Canal and have been in the Aegean for this whole season of 2023. SAILING ADVENTURES WITH GRANDAD are my amateur creations of my travels and experiences on Vayu my 44 ft X-yacht Vayu. The people I travel with, the places we go, the times we have and my reflections on living this challenge Ive created for my life. Sharing with you is challenging my very limited abilities as a narrator, editor and photographer but for now I have every intention of trying to improve. I am a lifetime sailor, practicing yogi, father of 4, grandad of 5 (soon 6), amateur chef, and thankful man. I live between Palma de Mallorca, Vayu my sailboat and Los Cabos Mexico. I share my life now with my beautiful partner Isabel who joins me sailing when she can and when the weather is guaranteed to be nice. This channel was launched at the beginning of the Ukrainian invasion. This war and now the Palestinian catastrophe just goes to show how where you were born, can determine so much. Sail for Life! Thanks for joining in this adventure. Sailing like life? its all in the journey! Michael
