A Dolphin leads us safely through Comer Channel in the southern Bahamas
We left Pear Cay in the Jumentos Cays heading for Salt Pond village on Long Island. Comer Channel is about 7 feet deep at mid tide, so no problem for SV Freya. Just as we entered the shallow part on the west end of the channel, a very friendly dolphin came by to lead us through. QP stayed up on the bow chatting with our guide until we passed back into the deeper east end of the channel. Thanks again little buddy! We didn't have enough time to make to the anchorage in Thompson Bay before dark, so we dropped anchor just outside of the east end of the channel. There are miles of flat shallow sea with deep sand everywhere here! Weather called for a nice calm night and the swells and waves were less than a foot.
