2026 JWC Day 1 - Quick Recap
Day 1 is in the books at the 2026 Junior World Championship in Medemblik. The forecast breeze showed up as promised, all four fleets, the 49er, 49erFX, FX Open and Nacra 17, got three races in each with zero delays and a few capsizes along the way. Germany's GER 21 (Heindl/Jacobs) and Italy's ITA 75 (Pezzilli/Torroni) lead the 49er fleet, both carrying two digit sail numbers from gold fleet finishes at the Senior Worlds. Poland's Klara Sobczak and Magdalena Skórnóg top 49erFX, Switzerland's Henri Rothacher and Noah Strempfer lead FX Open, and Nacra 17 has a tie at the top between Switzerland's Andrea Aschieri and Tine Rossel and Italy's Arto Hirsch and Sofia Borgia. Racing resumes tomorrow, 23 July, with the 49er fleet out first at 11:00.
