111 - Bali Strait, Java and Benoa Marina

In this episode Saoirse continues its passage to Denpasar, Bali, via the Bali Strait the runs between Bali and Java. The currents are strong and there's an endless procession of ferry boats transiting the channel. Once south of the narrow passage, we encounter a fleet of colourful and ornate fishing boats with lively crews. The fleet comes out at night and the horizon lights up, looking like a small city! Always make sure you are aware of your position when you head anywhere near land....in one of our anchorages the Navionics chart shows land 500m offset from its true position. On arrival in southern Bali, we take a day to tour a Hindu temple named the "Elephant Cave", and we take a Balinese cooking class with some other tourists. Thanks for following!
