Port Macdonnell is a relatively shallow bay facing the southern ocean and big swells creates a dangerous entry. After picking our path we surf a few waves before we get picked up by a larger breaking wave and end up surfing in at 21 KNOTS! We understand why we are the only sailing boat in the harbour. Ein Freiflug über die Tobago Cays.... Live aus dem Mast Top der SY Atanga Wir, Joachim und Sabine, die Crew der Atanga, wir sind am 01. Juni 2014 in Hamburg gestartet. 2015: Kanarischen Inseln 2016: Kapverdische Inseln, im Februar 2016 unsere Atlantik-Überquerung nach Französisch Guyana. Dann kleine Antillen und noch einmal die Guyanas und Suriname mit der Nereid’s Rally. 2017: ABC-Inseln (nur BC), Mexiko und Belize. In Mexiko haben wir eine dreiwöchige Rundreise im Landesinneren unternommen. Im Anschluss kamen Providencia und Kolumbien Festland (ebenfalls mit einer dreiwöchigen Rundreise) und die San Blas Inseln in Panama. 2018: Wir wurden im Januar in Panama vom Blitz getroffen. Die Reparatur dauerte drei Monate. Nach der Passage durch den Panama Kanal haben wir den Rest des Jahres in Ecuador verbracht und fünf Wochen das Landesinnere erkundet. 2019: Osterinsel, Gambier, Tuamotu und Gesellschaftsinseln. 2020: Die Corona-Krise hat uns in Gambier (Franz. Polynesien) erwischt. Wir werden sehen, wohin der Wind uns treibt und wie weit wir kommen.

Toni and I headed to “Moments in Time” to raise and furl the screecher sail but the pouring rain caused by Ernesto out in the Atlantic delayed our arrival. Since the breeze was too much to raise and furl a large sail, we decided to rig the flag halyards off the port and starboard spreaders. At least we got something checked off our “to do” list.
