The Mumm 36 is a great boat to push hard downwind in a breeze. As soon as the wind gets above 15 to 18 knots you could easily get the boat up and planning on a broad reach or run. With the storm cloud blowing in rain and the blue sky shinning in the back ground the whole crew was on edge as the tried to soak deep at speed to make it around the bottom mark without the need for a risky gybe. With the waves almost breaking breaking as the sea way built we were easily touching 12 knots of boats speed as raced toward the bottom mark. This was another Mumm 36 memory for our days racing Go To Red on Strangford lough. La sveglia stamattina suona molto presto, alle 4:00 per l’esattezza. Oggi Patri, Isa ed Enri torneranno a casa, facendo un luuungo viaggio. La seconda sveglia (quella delle 7:30) suona anche lei troppo presto, ma tocca alzarci. Un bel caffè e via con la giornata lavorativa. Durante le pause abbiamo fatto qualche attività tipicamente terricola, cioè fatto la spesa, la lavatrice, riempito i serbatoi etc. Domani ripartiremo verso il nord della Guadalupa. A domani! C

The 2024 season got off to a great start with the annual Strangford Lough Spring Series hosted by the Quoile Yacht Club. With the switch to the new YTC Handicap there was a good fleet of boats push for the win in both the Spinnaker and non Spinnaker devisions. With the sun shinning and light and shifty breeze at the top end of the lough it was a tricky day for the team on GTR, who ended with a second and 4th to be second overall. It was great to be back on the water after another long winter, looking forward to many more days on the water as the season progresses. The team at Bottom up Boats is more motivated than ever to bring you as much racing content as possible.
