We sail to a complex of reefs in remote Sulawesi, Indonesia and discover a great anchorage at a tiny island. Here we are enthusiastically welcomed by the villagers, who tell us we are the very first westerners ever to visit their stunning home. They proudly showed us around their small but truly beautiful island where seaweed farming and fishing are the central way of life. After an all to short stay, we sail further north to Bojowe Harbour on the Sulawesi mainland where we race to anchor before a fierce monsoonal storm that strikes with big winds and driving rain. Did we make it? Let’s call it a draw. We have just begun our exploration of this, the world’s 11th largest island but already we have fallen in love with sailing this remote area populated by such warm, welcoming people. Thank you so much for watching. You’re the guys and girls who float our boat and keep us motivated.

Experience the awe and wonder of the world’s southernmost continent. A vast, harshly beautiful land where the silence of creaking ice is broken by humpback whales surfacing as you slip past on one of the most luxurious vessels ever to cruise these waters. Heading off the beaten track doesn’t quite describe the once-in-a-lifetime experience of chartering 91.5m Tranquility in Antarctica with Camper & Nicholsons. From December 2023 until February 2024 Tranquility will be welcoming guests onboard to explore Antarctica’s frozen beauty and witness the region’s extraordinary wildlife in unparalleled luxury. Launched in 2014 by Oceanco, Tranquility is well equipped for the harsh conditions of the Southern Ocean. It has a cruising range of 5,000 nautical miles, is certified to Lloyd’s Ice Class E, and has state-of-the-art navigational equipment with sonars for detecting uncharted rocks and ice growlers. Tranquility joins a growing number of superyachts journeying to the far reaches of the planet to satisfy an increasing appetite for adventurous cruising. “We are all seeing a desire from clients to venture to these distant “untouched” parts of the world. Charter has evolved.” explains Charter Manager Nicole Terry. “Guests want to explore and have these once-in-a-lifetime experiences in parts of the world that only a superyacht can take you, and of course Tranquility is more than happy to oblige!” Clients can expect to be awed by “the majestic untouched nature, the solitude, the silence, and the feeling of entering another world,” explains Tranquility’s Captain Jan Rautawaara, who is no stranger to these waters. “Being able to visit remote, desolate places, and to see some extraordinary wildlife is a true adventure,” he adds, hoping that bringing guests on an Antarctic expedition will “broaden our own understanding of nature and make us realise how important it is to preserve this fragile life around us.” Tranquility will be available for charter in Antarctica from $1,600,000 per week from early December 2023 – late February 2024.
