This video was taken by a friend as we're approaching a favorite bay. We're reaching down the wind, so our boards are up to reduce drag. This is our prototype Split Junk Rig (SJR), an innovation by Slieve McGalliard. Camber and set are adjustable via lacings along top and bottom of each panel. Later, we sewed the final sail to match. The mizzen (aft) sail stays flat for decisive maneuvering and quiet weather-cocking.

As always, the Alexander Marine team enjoyed catching up with our valued customers at the 2023 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show - a show filled with plenty of good vibes and spectacular weather! We also enjoy expanding our network of boating enthusiasts as we introduce them to our world of boating. There is simply nothing better than getting out on the open water in comfort and luxury and creating lasting memories with friends and family. Don't you agree?

Join us as we navigate the challenges of sailing in Preveza! We're battling weather delays and midday winds, deciding whether to wake up early to catch the channel opening. Discover our strategies for a smooth journey! #SailingAdventures #Preveza #WeatherDelay #SailingLife #ChannelCrossing #EarlyMorning #SailingCommunity #BoatLife #SailingTips #WindChallenges

We just sailed 2,250 nautical miles from Chile to Panama and Zambezi gave it her all ⛵️ So did we. But here’s the truth: offshore sailing will always find your weak points. Here’s what didn’t survive: ⚙️ Steering wire 💥 Spinnaker (luckily @rollytaskersails_official is already working on our replacement 🙏) 🔩 Genoa shackle 🧩 Main sheet bloc 🛠 Engine acceleration lever 🐟 …and a shameful number of fishing lines 😅 No major damage, just a lot of salty lessons and toolbox hours. This is why preparation matters and why we carry way more spare parts than we used to. Tell us what’s broken on your longest passage? Or what spare would you never leave without? ⚓️ Want to feel more prepared? Comment “offshore” and we’ll send you our Offshore Sailing Bundle—real lessons, real tools, zero fluff. Stay Salty!
