Sono arrivata da un paio di giorni a Gran Canaria con la mia barca a vela Maneki. Sono alla fonda davanti alla spiaggia di Anfi del Mar, vicino ad Arguineguin, il porto che e' diventato il centro di accoglienza dei migranti africani. Il vento da est (calima) di questi giorni ha fatto aumentare gli sbarchi clandestini. La rotta canaria da Marocco e Mauritania e' una delle piu' pericolose

Shortly after the start of Race 2 of the 2024 Narrow Regatta the J109 going to read was shown a clean pair of heals from a rampaging VX1 that glided by to leeward with speed. The further the VX1 punched out into the middle of the narrows the more left to right of tide she picked up, allowed her to put and and front and disappear do the the race track. Reefing lines are important on a sailboat because they enable us to reef down the main sail (reduce sail area) when in strong winds. We had accidentally crossed two of our reefing lines when we rerouted them to make place for our new staysail halyard. This faux pas meant Adam couldn't reef our main sail when he needed. Although conditions were fine at the time, we're lucky he caught this now and we avoided a serious situation that could have occurred because of this mistake.
