Os barcos literalmente dรฃo a volta ao mundo e tem como a maior e mais difรญcil etapa chegar atรฉ Itajaรญ, a รบnica parada na Amรฉrica Latina. Sรฃo cerca de 12 mil milhas nรกuticas (23 mil km) somente nessa etapa da prova, que sai de Cabo Verde - รfrica do Sul e chega em Itajaรญ. Mas engana-se quem pensa que eles farรฃo o trajeto mais curto que seria atravessar o atlรขntico, eles virรฃo pelo outro lado, passando pelo oceano รndico, pacรญfico e finalmente chegando ao Atlรขntico. Dos 5, 4 veleiros continuam na disputa. O GUYOT(EUR) teve um problema estrutural e precisou suspender temporariamente hรก cerca de 600 milhas de Cabo Verde.
