In early October, our skipper traveled to Grenada to tour our new boat, a 2008 Knysna 440. It was love at first sight. This bluewater catamaran was built in South Africa, and she is fully loaded and ready to sail. This is the trailer for our new Youtube channel. As we pack up and prepare to move aboard, we will be filming and eventually sharing it all with you. So stick around and experience Sailing Life on Mars. One of my new favourite knots is the Zeppelin Bend, for tying 2 ropes together. It's a very strong knot from the late 18th century that was used to secure Zeppelin airships full of hydrogen or helium to the ground. This video will quickly show you how to tie one. .... This knot can cope with a huge strain and it won't jam under load, meaning you can untie it in an emergency: it's the Mother of all knots. ... Zeppelins were up to 3 times longer than a 747. That's quite a force for a knot. Sure, you can just use a Sheet Bend for the same purpose, but why ask Mr Bean for help when you know Schwarzenegger? Anyway, this knot has a great back story and a cool name: the Zepper!
