hello! It has been a rough few weeks onboard with working through all of the possible routes and weather windows to sail through the Bahamas during what is supposed to be a very active hurricane season. We would have been rushing through and that just seemed silly. So, we’ve come to the difficult decision that it safest for us to sail north until early fall before making our way back south. We’ve just crossed the Atlantic — but the next leg might be even more dangerous. Between Cádiz and Gibraltar, orca whales have been attacking sailboats… and we’re heading straight through their territory. Our plan: stay close to shore, dodge fishing nets, and hope the orcas don’t find us. Then we’ll face the Strait of Gibraltar — one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world — where massive tankers and ferries surround our tiny sailboat. That moment when a 40-ton whale swims right past you… 🐋 We’ve spent the last ten years sailing the ocean, always hoping for a moment like this. And recently… it happened!
