The Wildest New Year's Eve Party I've been too. This is Key West during New Years Eve. We were amazed at the amount of people in Key West. We chose to support the LGTBQ+ community and reserve our spot on the balcony to watch the famous Red Shoe Drop. #shorts #boatlife #boating #keywest #liveaboardlife

Ready to take your 22-40ft. sailboat out for the first time? In this episode of the Captain's Salon, we break down the basics of sailing, terms & concepts every beginner needs to confidently navigate lakes and bays. Buying a sailboat is the first step, but gaining the confidence to leave the dock is where the real journey begins. Join me in my salon as I pull from three essential sailing books to glean the best "sailing speak" and turn it into plain English. Whether you're on a Texas lake, reservoir, or a coastal bay, mastering terms like Port, Starboard, Tack or Jibe is your foundation for safety and fun while your sailing on the water. #SailingForBeginners #LearningToSail #NewBoatOwner #Sailing101 #HowToSail #cruisinglife #sailingtips #smallboatsailing #lakesailing #baysailing #coastalsailing

Crossing a frozen pond in the backcountry can be dangerous—but with the right systems, the risks can be managed. In this clip from our Baker’s Brook Pond expedition in Newfoundland, Steve explains how we reduce the chances of breaking through thin ice: testing the ice every few feet, spreading weight on skis, spacing out with ropes, and preparing for what happens if someone does go through. Backcountry travel is all about turning a potentially deadly situation into an inconvenient one. Steve began the journey as an amateur wooden boat builder crafting a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and now sailing the boat—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that traditional wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project continues beyond the boat shop, as Steve and crew travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. -------------------------- If you are interested in supporting/helping here are a few ways: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/how-to-help Acorn to Arabella's wishlist: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/wishlistpriority TotalBoat supports A2A!
