Varnishing can be a labour of love: On our last boat I applied 11 coats of varnish to the tiller and the results were fantastic... However, it took lots of time which I no longer have. If you're short on time, you can achieve decent results using the technique in this video. Will it get you on the cover of Classic Boat Magazine? Absolutely not! Will I make your boat look a lot better with minimal work? Yes! Subscribe for more handy sailboat DIY tips! Chris 👍
We’re Adam and Vicki — living a nomadic life by land and sea. At sea, our sailboat Te Tāiko is home as we journey across the South Pacific, exploring remote islands, meeting incredible people, and learning from the cultures we encounter. During the South Pacific cyclone season, we trade ocean horizons for winding roads — travelling through New Zealand in our motorhome Takahē, working, exploring, and preparing for the next sailing adventure. ✨ Join us as we share real stories of slow travel, adventure, and meaningful connection — from life aboard our sailboat to life on the road. #Travel #Adventure #SailingLife #VanLife #NomadicLiving #SouthPacific #NewZealand #CulturalTravel #SlowTravel #TravelVlog We hope you enjoy it! In this diving video we get to meet up eye to giant eye with a squid. Did you know squid have the largest eye to body ratio in the entire animal kingdom! In fact, the Giant Squid (cousin to this Caribbean Reef Squid) has the largest eyes on the entire planet at a minimum of 10 in / 25 cm in diameter. Even the Blue Whale does not compare at 11 cm. What’s strange is small eyes can actually see dramatically further so why the enormous eyes? Large eyes are thought to be better at seeing large objects that give off their own light in deep water. So who might the squid be looking for? Well he doesn’t glow but his movements trigger creatures that do and he loves feasting on Squid, The Sperm Whale!
