Michael & Heike have travelled the oceans themselves for over 40 years. But, it was back in the early 2000s, when they were determined to find a better way to supply energy to the propulsion system and the onboard appliances of yachts. After years of dedicated research, this led to the birth of the Solarwave 46 in 2009 – their first prototype of a solar powered catamaran. In 2010, they initiated a rigorous four-year sea trial. They crossed Europe by river, sailed the Black Sea, the stormy Aegean, as well as the vast Mediterranean. This was the proof of concept that the reliable solar electric drivetrain was an ideal choice for a self-sufficient and emission free lifestyle on board. We had heard, that in between the 2 islands below Cannes, there would be a red catamaran with a flag with 'Pizza' on it. Yes, this was a boat where fresh pizzas were made and which you could! You could pick up the pizza yourself (you will receive a text message) or for € 5 your order will be brought to you on the boat with 1 of the 4 dinghies they have. We decided to pick the pizza up ourselves and eat it on the boat, you can watch us in this video picking up the pizza's. Delicious pizzas and great to see how they are made at the boat.
