Our latest OH CRAP moment hit us when a violent squall appeared out of nowhere in the darkness smashing our boat from the complete opposite wind direction, tearing our mainsail free of the boom allowing it to flap crazily amongst the rigging in the middle of a busy shipping lane. In treacherous conditions on deck, it had to be secured fast before it tore itself to pieces. Las jarcias firmes deben cambiarse en los barcos de vela a los diez años de uso. Su gran problema es el óxido que puede provocar la rotura de los terminales y la consecuente desarboladura del mástil. Esto es muy peligroso, ya que puede herir gravemente a los tripulantes. En esta ocasión le ha tocado al barco de Julio. Además de la jarcia, toca reparar a fondo tanto el enrollador de proa como el de popa.
