Piracy in the Aegean Sea was a sophisticated operation that involved a network of pirates, merchants, and other collaborators. The pirates had bases on various islands and the mainland, from where they launched their attacks. They used fast and maneuverable ships, armed with cannons and other weapons, to overpower their targets. Once they captured a ship, they would loot its cargo, including money, precious metals, and slaves. They would then sell the loot to merchants and other traders, who were willing to buy them at a lower price. #shorts #pirates #piratesoftheaegean
I do not like retirement homes. That may sound provocative, especially as aging societies rapidly build more of them. But after traveling across Japan’s longevity hotspots and researching healthy lifespan, I increasingly wonder whether separating generations may actually accelerate decline rather than slow it. This article is not simply a criticism. It is also a reflection on how we might design aging communities differently, places where older people remain part of the wider rhythm of life rather than parked outside it.
