For our very first offshore passage we decided to use the opportunity of a short 30 nautical mile passage to prepare for the subsequent offshore passage back to Pattaya. David Payne of the Australian National Maritime Museum gives us some more inspiration for Australian Sailing Hall of Fame nominations. Today he shows us around Taipan, the 18 foot skiff designed and raced by Bob Miller. Miller, who was later known as Ben Lexcen, used many of the design principles seen in Taipan on the successful Australia II.
