We start to do some of the first permanent installations of the floor, we get some of the cabinets for the cabins in to see how they are looking (spoiler alert its INCREDIBLE 🥹), we're plugging away at the wiring, and of course we can't resist a few fun cheeky projects like installing our light up speakers that will go quite nicely with our famous smoke machine parties 😂 Weeks like this at the yard are so satisfying because it's great to have so much visible progress and LOTS of wins in so many different areas...feels like we're getting closer and closer with each win! This course is an essential learning forum for anyone who takes to sea, whether by sail or motor vessel, or for professional or recreational reasons. The intensive two day course aims to deliver up-to-date information and current techniques in an interactive environment. Included in the course are practical exercises where candidates will become familiar with the deployment and use of liferafts, and the use of inflatable lifejackets in a pool; plus a flare deployment practice. The certificate awarded meets the eligibility requirements of section 6.01 of the World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations for Category 0, 1 and some Category 2 offshore races.

It was more like dodgem cars than yacht racing at the first mark of the Craobh to Oban passage race WHYW 2023. The team on the J109 GTR got themselves out of a tight spot by forcing the boat on the port lay line to duck them about 7 or 8 boat lengths from mark. They were then caught out by the fast flowing tide which pushed them well below the lay line. While the racing was tight everyone was playing fair either tacking or gybing there way out of the possible pile up while keeping clear. This is until the last boat on in the line on the port layline came steaming with no overlap at the thee boat lengths to shove it in at the top mark. The team on GTR decided it was better to play in safe on a long race, rounding up to avoid a collision. Sadly the boat which was in another class did not do circles choose instead to sail on as if nothing had happened. There was lots of tight racing across the whole week which made for a great regatta in the Scottish Highlands. The team at Bottom Up Boat hope you are enjoying the action from WHYW 2023.
