The UniCredit Youth America’s Cup has begun 🇺🇸🦅 After day 1, the American Magic Youth Team had a great day with a score line of 2 , 1 and are sitting in first, winning a tie break with ITA The format sees the twelve teams split into two groups of six for an initial fleet race series. American Magic is in group A with the sailors representing the official America’s Cup teams will race in one group The top three teams from each side after eight races will race together in four fleet races to decide the top-two crews and from there it’s a one-race, winner-takes-all match race.

For our very first offshore passage we decided to use the opportunity of a short 30 nautical mile passage to prepare for the subsequent offshore passage back to Pattaya. In this video we’re sailing upwind in 35+ knots of breeze in Johnstone Strait during the VanIsle360 race with a double-reefed main sail and storm jib. A crew member is on the foredeck securing the #3 jib we had previously been flying in the short video https://youtube.com/shorts/VRAEp8M49Y4, but ripped in half. The head literally ripped right off. He is wearing a harness and tether! The sky is completely blue, but everybody is still completely soaked from the spray. Lots of sails were destroyed in that leg, including the #3 jib that is now on the foredeck.
