This is the 🥨 Ground-Line Hitch which is more secure than the Clove Hitch. It's a great knot for tying fenders to guardrails. Fenders are expensive, so more secure is good! 🔸 Wind the rope around the rail and cross over diagonally. Come back around the rail again, pass across diagonally again and tuck into the first loop. 🔸 It's pretty easy when you get the hang of it. So if you've been in the water for a long time and two things happen, one, the confidence builds like the dives start to feel easier, towards the end of the session, so it feels easier to go deeper, to equalise, you feel more relaxed and everything and the second thing is that your actual capacity goes down. You're more confident but less capable, the longer that you stay non the water. When we're breathing, between dives, we're eliminating more carbon dioxide than we are replacing during the actual dives. We become Hypocapnic. Low, hypo, canonic, carbon dioxide. There's too little CO2 in the body. You might think, that doesn't make sense CO2's a waste product of course we need to get rid of it, but you do need a baseline level of CO2 in the body in order to stimulate the dive reflex. More knots at 'kats.co/kts'. 🥨 If you want to give a bit of oomph to your Bowline, if you are tying off your tender for example, then try a Water Bowline. .... We've featured this before, but this is a better and quicker way of tying it. It's effectively 2 knots for the price of one. * Instead of a normal loop, make a Clove Hitch in the Bight on the standing end. Then pass the working end up through, round and back down as you normally would in a Bowline. ... Tighten the Bowline part first, and then the hitch. Voilà! A really strong Bowline variation. Remember, it's going to take you slightly longer to untie. As the name suggests, it's good in water, that's why it's a good knot for your tender on windier days.
