I've been sailing since I was a teenager, starting with dinghies, though I took a long break from sailing altogether. Now, aboard a 40-foot boat, I've realized the importance of staying fit as I navigate this less nimble vessel. Sailing a bigger boat comes with greater challenges, where a knockdown can have much more serious consequences. But it`s never too late to learn! and I am learning a lot! The famous ‘penguin slide’ on The Snares Islands always delivers a wildlife spectacle! Navigating this near-vertical granite slope is no easy task – just ask this New Zealand Sea Lion, whose rapid descent coined the phrase “penguin bowling” on our February ‘In the Wake of Scott & Shackleton’ voyage to Antarctica. Thanks to our friend Neale Frazer for capturing and sharing this incredible moment! #SnaresIslands #SubantarcticIslands #AdventureTravel #Wildlife #animalfails #penguin Filmed in accordance with the Department of Conservation's Minimum Impact Code for the Subantarctic Islands.
