Nearly sinking our Dinghy in a squall in Falmouth! Full bags of provisions and three people were too much for our 5HP Outboard. I was laughing here but seconds after this the engine died (duh) and we quickly needed to row against the wind barely making it back to the boat. SAILING ILLUSTRATED #799 (Fri 10 Jan 2025) â âItâs been an interesting first two days for us,â commented Gavin Brady (USA) on top with Nick Egnot-Johnson (NZL) and Ian Williams (GBR) at the 2025 Macao Match Cup. âDespite us not managing to do a great deal of preparation for the event, as well as other teams, we are sailing well. There are a lot of wind shifts here, but also a lot of passing lanes to keep the racing close â a great event so far.â Reminder that our SI Person of the Year will be announced on our 800th show on 14 January 2025.... SAILING ILLUSTRATED is hosted by Tom Ehman (USA), with Julia Wedekind (USA), Jon Emmett (GBR), Alistair Murray (AUS) and the FOSI. As always our live video podcast airs on Facebook (fb.com/sailingillustratedblog) and the Sailing Illustrated TV YouTube channel every Tuesday and Friday at 1300 Pacific / 2100 UTC, or watch a replay on-demand later. Experience a sailing holiday aboard his traditional gaff rigged ketch that is one of a handful of remaining wooden British sailing trawlers. Built in 1895 Pilgrim and her iconic red sails were once part of a large fishing fleet operating out of Brixham in Devon. Today, as a classic charter vessel, the Brixham community still rallies around Pilgrim, with local crew, experienced and skilled volunteers performing maintenance and making the Pilgrim of Brixham operation run like clockwork. VentureSail is incredibly proud to have a hand in getting people aboard this historic vessel to not only experience how magnificently she sails, but also to see how passionate those that sail her are. Join Pilgrim on voyages around Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, or experience maritime festivals on this incredible vessel. https://venturesailholidays.com/ship/pilgrim-of-brixham/

*Please Note : This video was shot towards the end of production so not everything shown in the video has been finished to Columbia Yachts usual high standard. "We're in the cockpit of the Columbia Carbon 32. This boat has a fractional rig with Asymetrical spinnakers. This particular boat, boat #1, has a retractable carbon bowsprit. All the boats after this will have a fixed carbon bowsprit. The boat carries small headsails and big mains. The jibs are 108%, not a large headsail. The boat will have a full 108% jib and then a very flat 105% jib."
