“Hi! My name is Periklis, half Greek half French. I grew up in Santorini, Greece. I’ve been sailing since the age of 7. At 7 it is also when I started competing, something I’ve been doing for many years, and still do ever so often when I have the time." Read more on Periklis whereabouts and his recommended 7-day sailing itinerary on the latest Magister Navis issue here: https://www.sailogy.com/magazine
Omiš is the center of Omiš Riviera – a small town nestled on the mouth of river Cetina between Makarska and Split on the mainland. Located a short 35-minute drive away from Split, Omis is a must-visit destination if you're heading to the Dalmatian coast! If you've set out on an adventure this summer, then our top things to do in Omiš must be on your list! 1. Discover the Fortress of Mirabella - there are two fortresses located in Omis, with Mirabella being the most accessible. Each fortress has impressive views out across the sea and was once used as a defensive fortress from invaders. 2. Visit the Parish Church of St. Michael and discover the impressive architecture 3. Walk through the Eastern Town Doors - your entrance to the city! 4. Buy fresh fruit and vegetables at the Poljica Market 5. Get sandy at Punta Beach; a large sandy beach located near the heart of the town 6. See where the river meets the sea at the Cetina River Estuary For a complete guide on what to do and see in Omis, check out our Destination Guide: https://www.sail-croatia.com/set-sail/destination/omis
This was the first video I ever tried to film. I needed a distraction from what was ahead of me. 3 years ago, with a keel and hull flexing issue back in Scotland. I almost start tearing up remembering this terrible time. The yard was quite far from home, so I had to sleep in the car at the carpark, eat ready meals from the supermarket and shower wherever. This little issue bankrupted me! Literally!! But I leave that for another time. Still, it seems appropriate for a throw-back-thursday :) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9W4L77A-Rw/
When old friends Rus and Fiona came to visit we were introduced to the 'I Like It Here' dance, a kind of tribal ritual that has to be carried out whenever one feels the need to express one's delight upon discovering a new place. This is a very important ceremony that must be executed with complete dedication. In this clip you'll see three experts carry out the 'I Like It Here' dance with great gusto. The lyrics were adapted to 'I Like It Up Here' to accomodate the location. [] www.followtheboat.com [] * tales from the high seas *
