Irish Sailing have partnered with Water Safety Ireland and the RNLI in a pre-season push to reduce incidents on coasts and waterways. A staysail can be found on the forward section of the boat, between the mast and the bow of the boat. Staysails are smaller than the main sail and can be triangular or jib-shaped. Sailboats with staysails typically have a rigging plan that includes multiple stays or shrouds that provide support to the mast.
