Irish Sailing have partnered with Water Safety Ireland and the RNLI in a pre-season push to reduce incidents on coasts and waterways. If you’d like to do some more training or brush up on what you already know, Irish Sailing has over 100 training centres around the country offering courses in sailing and windsurfing as well as powerboating and other specialised instruction. Back to the boat.. After five weeks away—and a little longer neglecting the boat while working on my book project—I’m heading back out to Wahine. The manuscript is now submitted, and while I wait for feedback, it’s time to give the boat some overdue attention. First job: pump up the SUP and check for leaks, so I can get back and forth more easily while moving Wahine further up the inlet to tackle some boat projects. It also saves hauling Mitsu’s heavier tender back into the water. Nothing dramatic. Just the practical realities of life afloat—tools, tides, and a bit of trial and error. Good to be back.
