Join us for an entertaining and heartfelt interview with Rodney Style, the charismatic skipper, and George, his ever-cheerful crew member, aboard Psalter, their stunning wooden BayRaider 20. Rodney shares his love for the mystery of sailing, while George jokes about being the obedient (but not always perfect!) crew member. Together, they navigate the seas and life with humour and camaraderie, embodying the spirit of true seamanship. As they banter and poke fun at each other, it’s clear that this duo is more than just a winning team—they’re a joy to watch. Rodney’s passion for the art of sailing and George’s laughter about their adventures (and occasional mishaps) highlight the unique bond they share. Hear their take on the Swallow Yachts Raid, which Rodney describes as a gathering of kindred spirits. This delightful interview is a must-watch for anyone who loves sailing, camaraderie, and a good laugh. We just completed our biggest boat refit ever. We removed our old Yanmar engines and replaced them with new Nanni N4.50s. We did all the work ourselves while we were still in the water, fibreglassing new engine beds and then aligning the prop shafts before connecting the electronics up to the helm. We had a bit of a scare in our first sea trial when one engine suddenly died but it’s nothing we can’t overcome so join us on the journey as we figure it out and get back to sailing to remote islands again.
The Earthling E40 Hybrid Power Catamaran. We met the Earthlink team recently in Barcelona to take a look at the innovative systems on the E40 E-Propulsion Power Cat. John McGettigan motored the boat from Genoa to Barcelona (650 nm) single handed. ▫️ What do you think? ▫️ 10 Key Points: A cutting-edge hybrid-electric catamaran with top engineering standards. . Designed by @johnmcgettigan66, it's powered by twin Molabo electric motors and a 45kWh lithium battery system supported by a 2kW solar array. . On battery alone, Earthling can cruise silently for up to 40 nautical miles at lower speeds, or 20nm at 8 knots, and 18nm at 10 knots—the "sweet spot". . Two diesel-powered 8.5kW Whisperpower Genverters provide hybrid range extension and can run on biofuel. . Hulls are ultra-light (12m/3.6 tonnes) and based on the Stealth 36 powercat design, built with carbon composites for max efficiency. . Large 600mm propellers spin slowly (400–600rpm), optimised for quiet, efficient cruising at 10 knots. . Full recharge takes just 2 hours from shore power or 3 days from solar at anchor or at the dock. . The entire boat is run by E-Thos, a smart remote-control system that manages power, navigation, and amenities with real-time alerts. . Interior is single-level, open-plan, with smart use of space and 5 berths—perfect for weekend getaways . The E-40 aims to set a benchmark in eco-friendly boating: silent, clean, energy-efficient, and ready for the next generation of boaters. . #electric #hybrid #yacht
