Il s'agit donc d'un rôle très complet amenant nos compagnons à travailler différentes matières et essences de bois. Indeed, the trade of carpenter / cabinetmaker does not stop with the manufacture and installation of furnitures. The fitting out of the boats begins with the insulation as well as the installation of the floors, the manufacture, assembly and adjustment of the furnitures and the installation of the synthetic resin working plans and linings. It is therefore a very complete role, leading our companions to work with different materials and wood species.

David Payne of the Australian National Maritime Museum gives us a little inspiration for the Australian Sailing Hall of Fame with a look at Barrenjoey, the 5.5M yacht which was sailed to Olympic glory in 1964. Grandfather Bill Northam and crew Peter “Pod” O’Donnell and James Sergeant, won Australia’s first Olympic sailing Gold medal in Tokyo in this beautiful boat which was designed in the US but built in Australia.
