We tested the Mantus M2 in the Caribbean last year and it performed so well through the big winter storms we had at anchor in Portugal we've upgraded to the new stainless steel version with it's little wings that help it stay straight in a veer and apparently greatly increase holding in soft mud. We will be testing that of course, but very happy to have this 105Ib monster holding us.

🪢 Sunday Boat Tip [2/52] 🪢 I think you would be surprised by the number of boats we see with flapping sails as they try to motor against the wind 😬 I’m saying you should stop this now! Not only will you save the sails to last longer, you will also ✨ Increase your boat speed ✨ Decrease your fuel consumption ✨ Make the boat go smoother in the waves ✨ Less noise Motor sailing can have its benefits, and even though we prefer sailing it would be lying to say we never give a little support with the diesel engine, especially sailing behind islands where the wind is usually all over the place. By giving a little extra push with the engine we can go higher up towards the wind or sail over choppy waves in conditions that would normally be to light. If you still want to go dead straight into the wind? DROP YOUR SAILS!! They are not doing ANYTHING good by just flopping like that! Some days are loud… but this one wasn’t. This one was perfect. A slow start on the boat, followed by joining the Buren Bay community to clean the beach, a healthy lunch at Yadon Care at the tip of Uken Inlet, and a gentle sunset that seemed to say, “Well done today.” It reminds me that the smallest moments, solo silence, shared work, healthy food, quiet sunset, end up feeling like the big ones.
