This is a timelapse on November 22th 2017. I captured the pictures at the tip of the Izu-peninsula in Japan. I used a CANON 9000D and a SIGMA 15mm F2.8 EX DG DIAGONAL FISHEYE lens, to capture photos at a 15 second interval which were later combined into a timelapse video. General de la Armada española, Blas de Lezo nació en Pasajes, Guipúzcoa, en 1687 y murió en 1741. Perdió la pierna izquierda por una bala de cañón en el combate de Vélez-Málaga, entre la escuadra francesa del almirante Tolosa, donde luchaba, y la inglesa-holandesa, en 1704. Blas de Lezo mostró siempre gran intrepidez en las batallas. En 1713, siendo capitán de navío, Felipe V lo envió a someter la isla de Mallorca. Formó parte de la expedición de la Corona española contra los corsarios en las Antillas. Durante 14 años estuvo luchando al mando de la escuadra y del generalato de los mares del Sur. Como recompensa por sus servicios, ascendió a jefe de la escuadra. En 1734 fue nombrado teniente general y posteriormente comandante general de los galeones y los navíos «Fuerte» y «Conquistador» que se enviaron a Tierra Firme. El 11 de marzo de 1737 entró con su flota en Cartagena de Indias y tomó posesión del mando de ese apostadero donde se enteró de la acumulación de fuerzas de los ingleses en Jamaica. Esto coincidía con la declaración de guerra que se hizo entre España e Inglaterra en 1739. Cartagena de Indias era la presa más codiciada de los ingleses. Lezo instaló sus buques en Bocachica para que los enemigos no pudieran llegar al puerto; cerró la entrada con cadenas y envió uno de sus más gruesos cañones a tierra. Estas disposiciones los mantuvieron alejados durante un tiempo. En 1741 se presentó en Cartagena una escuadra de 36 buques de guerra y unos 100, entre transportes, brulotes y bombardas, al mando de los almirantes Vernon, Lestock y Ogle. Era entonces el gobernador de Cartagena de Indias el virrey de Granada don Sebastián Eslava. Después de diecisiete días de lucha los ingleses se adueñaron del puerto y bombardearon la ciudad durante ocho días, pero Blas de Lezo y el virrey alcanzaron la victoria que obligó al precipitado reembarco de las fuerzas inglesas. Los ingleses estaban tan seguros de su victoria que ya habían mandado acuñar monedas en las que figuraba Lezo de rodillas entregando la espada al almirante. https://cvc.cervantes.es
