We’ve officially hauled Sabado out of the water at Port Whangarei Marine Center in New Zealand, and the refit has begun! In our latest video, we take you through a day in our new routine: starting the morning at our rental house, commuting to the boatyard, and diving into our first big boat projects. We kick things off by tearing apart our bed to prep for a major power system upgrade. We also give you a tour of the yard facilities, and remove our cockpit fridge to make way for a new one. It’s a strange feeling seeing the boat on land with empty cabinets, but we’re excited (and a little nervous) about what’s ahead. First time in the Atlantic!! We have a furler problem we need to fix so we are heading out around marathon key. Off grid living comes with it’s unique set of problem that need fixing. Especially when off grid means living on a boat. We were anchored on the gulf side and the boat yard is on the Atlantic side so away we go! Two hour cruise around the island to get to a spot that would take ten minutes to walk to lol! Quit a large change of pace from life on land to living on a boat! Thankfully we are no longer in a rush to do much of anything these days, so a little day cruise is under way! Sadly the sails stay down for this one. Next time though.
