We love blue tape. It is helpful for labeling and reminding you of important items to track and monitor. In this Offshore Cruising tip called “Analog Gauges”, Jeff recommends using blue tape to help you mark your gauges for quick verification that all is well. Analog gauges have needle indicators that move to and remain in a safe operating “normal” position once they are warmed up and running. By marking the “normal” needle location with blue tape, you can quickly check that your gauges are where they should be. If you start running hot, losing voltage or oil pressure you have a simple pre-alarm warning. This same tip can be used for main engine analog gauges. Simply cut blue tape into small triangles and mark the normal needle locations for voltage, oil pressure, and coolant. This practice can be used for all of your analog gauges including proper pressure points for steering, fresh water, etc. A swift glance lets you verify your status. To learn more about safe travel at sea, please consider signing up for “Offshore Cruising – Preparing Craft and Crew” and you will learn why it has become one of the most popular classes Boaters University has ever offered. From theory to practice ⚓️✨ One of our students Andreas from Switzerland , (position to be added) just completed both the Sailing Theory Course *and* the Sailing School with us — and hearing their words after the journey means the world. He began online, learning the foundations step by step. Later, he joined us on deck — setting sails, navigating, and discovering the rhythm of real life at sea. 🌊 It’s a journey of patience, courage, and new skills coming alive with each mile. These stories remind me why I love teaching. Watching someone grow from curious beginner to confident sailor is pure magic. ⚓️ Ready to start your own journey? Our next Theory Course begins September 2025, and the next Practice Week takes place November 1–8, 2025 in Mallorca.

191 km (almost 103 nautical miles) of swimming without getting out of the water ! Noam Yaron swam for more than 102 hours, between Calvi, in Corsica, and Monaco, with Excess at his side. Two catamarans, one extraordinary challenge, zero compromises. Excess provided technical and logistical support for this record-breaking sporting performance and scientific challenge which is at the heart of our commitment to the ocean. Well done Noam Yaron and thank you for this exceptional adventure! #Performance #ExcessCatamarans #NoamYaron #OceanProtection #seeksensations
