Race One of the SLYC two day event Strangford Lough got under way under cloudy skies with a moderate breeze GTR was ducking and weaving to lock up the pin end of the line on port tack. With two boats choosing to duck behind them to avoid getting pushed the wrong side of the pin there was a third that could caught out and had to tack around to start correctly. With the windward position secured they could put the bow down and accelerate over the boats to leward.. As part of their 150th anniversary celebrations, Holland America Line's flag ship Rotterdam retraced her steps and made an Eastbound transatlantic crossing 150 years to the day after the historic first voyage. After leaving New York the first port of call was our home town of Plymouth in South West England. We went along to see the amazing welcome given to guests by the Cruise Plymouth volunteers as well as taking a look of this stunning ship moored off Plymouth's historic shore line.
