A lot of people didn’t think I could pull this off – and honestly, I did want to quit a few times..But the old one was ruined, professionals had a 2-year waitlist, and I figured… why spend the money when I might be able to do it myself?💰💰 To everyone who thought it couldn’t be done – well, it could 💁🏼♀️ Did I spend almost 4 months doing it? Yes, along other projects that needed attention. Is it perfect? Nope! It’s not perfect. Some seams are crooked (like so many other things on a boat), I’ve unpicked and resewn more times than I can count, and I even made a whole new sprayhood after the first one was a total disaster🔥 But now it’s finished. And it’s d4mn special.Stubbornness and support from good people really can take you far - so thanks to all who actually believe in the project. This cockpit enclosure is uniquely ours – and just the way it’s supposed to be! - 17 days, let’s go!!!
These clips are from onboard the MOD70 Race For Water which is currently lying third in the Rolex Fastnet Race just ahead of her sistership Veolia Environement. They've just gone round the Rock and are flying! These videos showing Steve Ravussin steering the 6.5 ton rocket ship are from the last Friday of Cowes Week when editor David Glenn sailed round the Isle of Wight for a quick demo. We hit 30.7 knots between St Catherine's and Bembridge and despite stopping for half an hour to fix the main hull rudder got round in less than 4 hours. Eight of the MOD70s have been sold for a major world tour of passage racing and inshore round the cans stuff. Watch out for an upcoming feature in Yachting World.
