It was tough to control the the remote control yachts in blustery conditions off the pontoon at SLYC during the Saturday morning racing. After a nice rounding and gybe at the top mark a big puff sent this yacht down the mine and into a massive nosedive and round up. With the pressure going from 5 to 15 in seconds it was hard to get the nose away after the wind made it hard to play. The team at bottom up boats love racing of all shapes and sizes, I loved taking this footage and spending a few minutes on the dock talking to some life long sailors who now enjoy racing from the peer long past the days that their sea legs have deserted them. A brief walk-through of our newest project, the Hood 35 LM. Built in conjunction with C.W. Hood Yachts, this 35' dual jet cold-molded motor yacht is the 2nd in the Hood/Lyman-Morse series. A plywood mockup of our builds is always constructed in advance of the actual boat's construction. This allows the customer, builder, and designer to see a full scale spatial model of the eventual yacht. It allows us to make changes at this point, instead of further down the construction process when things get more costly and time consuming.

Erraid is a small, rugged tidal island, one mile square, considered to be one of the driest, sunniest spots on the west coast of Scotland. It is located at the tip of the Ross of Mull. Traigh Gheal, or David Balfour's Bay, is situated on its south side. Read our guest blog from Moonshadow Yacht Charters on their visit: https://www.sailscotland.co.uk/news/posts/2017/the-isle-of-erraid/ Scotland offers sailing as it should be… there’s space and freedom. And the choice to do a lot – or do next to nothing – in this spectacular setting. It’s uncrowded and unspoilt, and life here moves at a different pace. People come specially to see basking sharks, puffins, seals, dolphins and eagles. They sail. They walk along beaches and coastal paths, explore local history and photograph their surrounds. They eat fresh seafood at stylish cafes and vibrant marinas. They enjoy the friendly traditional pubs. They browse shops in bustling coastal towns and villages. They picnic on beaches that are near-deserted, even in the height of summer. Or just sit and watch the tides, the sunsets and the stars.
